The South Dakota Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine Association is a professional association of Nationally Board Certified (NCCAOM) Acupuncturists. The purpose of the association is to advance the profession and practice of acupuncture in South Dakota. Currently, SD is one of just three remaining states that does not regulate the profession of acupuncture. The SDAOMA is working diligently to bring forth legislation that would ensure that all South Dakotans have access to safe, high quality acupuncture and oriental medicine services performed by legitimately trained practitioners who have met state and national standards of professional and ethical competence.
We work to:
Create a meeting place for South Dakota acupuncturists;
Share knowledge, ideas, and concerns about acupuncture, Oriental medicine, and related therapies with each other;
Educate the general public about acupuncture and Oriental medicine;
Promote and support positive legislation regarding acupuncture and Oriental medicine;
Support and encourage National goals congruent with the South Dakota Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Association goals;
Support and encourage the maintenance of the National Commission for the Certification of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM);
Support and encourage the organization's members to earn certification from the NCCAOM; and,
Support and encourage continuing education of acupuncturists.
